Adding a four-pole wiring harness to your Durango is gonna allow you to pull trailers with four-pole wiring on them. This will allow you to safely transfer the signals from your vehicle to the trailer, letting others know what your intentions are on the road. It's going to transfer four signals, which will be your left turn, your right turn, your taillights, and your brake lights. Now, there are some accessories out there that will take a four-pole to be able to run the lights on 'em. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2018 Dodge Durango- Video

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2018 Dodge Durango, we're going to be installing Tekonsha's T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, Part Number 118617. This vehicle wiring harness is going to provide your trailer with all the necessary lighting. This includes the left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps, and brake lamps, so you'll be DOT compliant in all states.One of the nicest things about this harness is that is has a module that will intercept the signals at each of your left and right tail lamp assemblies. It'll see those signals and then generate its own signal and send it back here to our connector. This module has its own dedicated power circuit that is fused so if there's any faults on your trailer, the fuse will just open to our module and it won't affect any of your vehicle wiring. So you can correct your trailer's faults and then just replace the fuse and you're ready to get back on the road.There's a dust cap located on the end to help keep out any dirt and debris when you're not using it. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2018 Dodge Durango we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Hopkins seven and four-pole trailer connector socket with mounting bracket, part number HM40975. Here's what our wiring looks like installed. This wiring harness will allow you to safely and legally tow a trailer, because on the right side of it we have our four-pole flat connector, and this gives us the basic lighting functions that are required by law and will refer us to safely and legally tow a trailer. We'll have our turn signals, our brake lights, our taillights, and our running lights, as well as the necessary ground connection that we need between our Durango and our trailer for everything to work properly.On one side of our connector, we have a seven-way connector here, and this gives you all the lighting functions that the four-pole had, plus reverse light output function, an electric brake controller output function, and also a 12-volt charge line kit. If you want to tow a trailer with electric brakes, though, you will require an additional brake controller on your vehicle, and we have multiple different options for that.Now what's nice about this is not only do we have our four-pole flat, but we have the seven-way RV connector here, so this gives us the ability to tow multiple different types of trailers without having to get adapters. As you can see, we can easily secure it to our hitch using the dust cover to prevent it from dragging on the ground. Now, this wiring harness will allow you to safely and legally tow a trailer by having the required lights as needed by law. We'll have our right turn signal and right brake light off of this green wire, left turn signal and left brake light off the yellow wire, tail lights and running lights off the brown wire, and the necessary ground connection between our trailer and our Durango will be provided by this white wire.Now, many of our customers have said they really like how easy this was to install because it simply plugs right in to their factory tow package, and many have also stated that they've had it on their vehicle for several years, and they haven't encountered any problems with it. Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2012 Dodge Durango- Video

Today on our 2012 Dodge Durango we're going to be taking a look at the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-pole flat trailer connector, part number 118552. Here's what our wiring looks like fully installed. It is going to stay on the outside of the vehicle at all times, so since it is going to be staying on the outside of the vehicle, it's going to have that cover so we don't have to worry bout any dirt and debris getting in there, as well as we can hook it onto our hitch and it's going to be ready for us whenever we're ready to tow. As you can see, you're going to have plenty of wire to hook up to your trailer and when you're finished, you can just hook your dust cap around your hitch, and then it'll be ready for you. This kit is going to allow you to tow your trailer with all the proper lighting, but also protect your vehicle in case there is an issue on the trailer end, it's not going to back=feed and do any damage to your vehicle's lighting system. Now that we've gone over some of these features, let's show you how to get it installed. To begin our installation we're going to need to open our back hatch and we're going to be removing our taillights. If we come to our taillights, we're going to have two small tabs here, I'm just going to be using a flathead screwdriver to pop that center section out. Just like that and we're going to repeat the same process for this one down here, and the other two on our other taillight. more

This is going to work out good for cargo carriers, it's going to work out good for trailers. Today on our 2017 Dodge Durango, we're going to show you how to install the Hopkins 7 and 4 Pole Trailer Connector Socket with Mounting Bracket, part number is HM40975. Here's our wiring kit installed. The thing I really like about it, we get both the 7 pole and the 4 pole here on the back of our vehicle. That's going to eliminate the need for us to carry around adapters to go from one to the other. Each cover is spring loaded. We've got stainless steel springs in here to help keep those doors closed. If you look inside, it's actually a rubber gasket that's going to go all the way around to prevent moisture and things like that from getting inside. more

This will allow us to use any of the lights on our trailer, so we will have our DOT standard of tail lights, turn signals, and brake lights on our trailer. This will allow us to hook up to most rental trailers out there. Anything that doesn't have brakes or reverse functions for the most part this will work just fine for it. Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2012 Dodge Durango C56133- Video

Today on this 2012 Dodge Durango we're going to be installing the Curt T-Connector 4-Pole Wiring Harness, part number C56133. To being our install we'll go ahead and open up the rear hatch of the vehicle to gain access to our taillights. Next, we'll need to remove the taillights by taking out these 2 pushpin fasteners and we're going to be using a flat-bladed screwdriver. With that done, we'll go ahead and rock the taillight back and forth until it comes loose. We can then disconnect the 2 plugs going into the taillight. The larger plug comes out after pushing down on the release here on top and with the smaller plug you'll need to take a flat-bladed screwdriver and push out the red tab and that should release it. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2007 Dodge Durango- Video

Today on our 2007 Dodge Durango we'll be installing Tow Ready T-One Connector part number 118390. To begin our installation we'll need to open the tailgate and remove the vehicle's right side taillight assembly. We'll remove the two clips holding the taillight in place. We'll then carefully pry the housing away from the vehicle, being careful not to break the alignment tab. We'll repeat this process to remove the left side assembly. We'll not go ahead and disconnect the assembly from the wiring harness. We'll slide the red locking tab on the vehicle wiring harness to the unlock position. We can then disconnect the vehicle wiring harness from both taillight sides. more

Today on our 2013 Dodge Durango we will be installing the T-One Vehicle Wire Harness with a 4-pole flat trailer connector. Part number 118552. We'll start by gaining access to the rear of our vehicle. We'll need to remove these push fasteners. And then, tail light. With the push pins removed, we go ahead and push from the back of the tail light towards the rear of the vehicle to remove it. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2014 Dodge Durango- Video

Today on our 2014 Dodge Durango well be installing the Tow Ready T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with Four-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number 118617. To begin our install well first go ahead and open up the rear hatch. Then were going to remove the two taillight assemblies, one on each side. Each side has two fasteners that will need to be removed before we can take the taillight assembly out. These are push pin fasteners so well pry the center of the fastener out and then remove it completely. Now to remove the taillight assembly well need to pull it out away from the body of the vehicle, releasing the two alignment pins underneath. Note it can make it easier if you do a little prying on the front edge of the taillight assembly to release the fasteners underneath. Were just going to use a plastic little pry tool. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2014 Dodge Durango C56198- Video

Today our 2014 Dodge Durango, we're going to install part number C56198 from Curt. This is a Curt T Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with a 4 pole flat. First thing we need to do is get our vehicle ready to install the part. To do that we're going to open the back hatch, then remove the taillights. There's plastic rivets that hold it in place, so we'll use a small screwdriver to pull it open. Then a trim panel tool comes in handy to pull out the rest of it. You can pull straight back and rock it back and forth and it will come out of these sockets. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2008 Dodge Durango- Video

Today in our 2008 Dodge Durango we'll be installing the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number C55597. To begin our install we'll first go ahead and open up the rear hatch and locate the 2 fasteners that secure the driver's side taillight assembly. To remove them they'll need to be pried in the center and then you can remove the entire fastener. We'll go ahead and use an interior trim panel tool but also a flat blade screwdriver would work. Now with the centers pried out we'll remove the fasteners and then the taillight assembly. Be careful not to break the alignment tabs underneath as you remove the taillight assembly. Next we'll go ahead and disconnect the manufacturer's wiring from the back of the taillight socket. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2004 Dodge Durango- Video

Today in our 2004 Dodge Durango, well be installing the tow ready T-One vehicle wiring harness with four-pole flat connector part number 118390. To begin our install, well first go ahead and open up the rear hatch. Then, we need to remove both rear taillight assemblies. To remove the taillight assemblies, well first need to remove the two push pin fasteners on each side. To remove the push pin fastener, well pry out on the center of the fastener and then remove the fastener completely. Once we have them both out, we can then gently rock the taillight assembly and pull it out of its position being careful not to break the alignment tails underneath. Once we have it out and away from the body of the vehicle, well then go ahead and remove the manufacturers wiring harness. To remove the wiring harness, well first need to push the red locking tab over and then press on the connector lock removing the wire connector from the socket. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2008 Dodge Durango 118390- Video

Today on our 2008 Dodge Durango we'll be installing the Tow Ready T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-pole flat trailer connector part number 118390. Now to begin our installation we'll go ahead and open the rear cargo door and remove the taillights. Here on the passenger side we'll remove these two push pins and then simply pull straight back on the taillight assembly. We can then unplug it by pushing the red push pin off to the side and then removing the connector from the taillight. Now that we have our passenger side taillight assembly out, we'll go ahead and repeat the same procedure and remove the drivers side taillight assembly. Now here on the drivers side we can plug in our T1 harness that contains the yellow wire. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2003 Dodge Durango- Video

Today on this 2003 Dodge Durango we're going to be installing wiring harness part number 118334. In the location of the ports we are going to be plugging our wiring harness into are located directly behind the tail lights of both the drivers and passengers side of the vehicle. In order to gain access to those these are two Phillips head screws per side, you just want to go ahead and remove those and allow the tail light to pop off. With the tail light pulled back you can see on the back side of the tail light is the connector we are going to be using. We will next need to go ahead and separate the connector from the tail light, and to do that if you look on the top side of the connector there is a red tab here, you want to go ahead and press it over, and that releases the safety clip, and then there is a push button release right here on the top as well, press that in, and pull the two pieces apart. We will go ahead and do that for the passengers side tail light as well and then we will go ahead and start plugging our harness in line. more

7-Pole Wiring Installation - 2005 Dodge Durango- Video

Today on this 2005 Dodge Durango, we are going to install part number 42145 from Hoppy. This part is designed to replace the factory 7-pole connector that is already installed on the vehicle. And this would be a perfect example. As you can see here, this whole assembly has seen better days. What we are going to do is unbolt the old connector, disconnect the wiring harness and then just bolt in the new. Alright, now we are going to take our 4-pole on the side here and we are just going to move it out of the way for more working space. Now, pull out our harness. And there is a lock on the connection point right here and this red tab, we have to push that way, to unlock it. When you push down this tab right here, it should unlock and this whole assembly comes apart. 0:50 more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2007 Dodge Durango 118390- Video

Today on this 2007 Dodge Durango we will be installing wiring harness part number 118390. We are at the rear of the vehicle. The connection points for the wiring harness are going to be located directly behind the tail lights on both the driver and passenger side. First thing we want to do is remove those tail lights to gain access to the plug ins. To do so I have opened up the rear hatch and you can see on the inboard side we have got two retaining clips. Remove those, we can use either a rivet removal tool like the one I am using now or you can use a flat head screwdriver if you do not have one of these available to you. With those removed we just want to gently rock back and forth to release the outside clips on the tail light and with that removed you can see the port on the back side of the tail light. This is the one we are going to be connecting the wire harness into. To separate the two we just want to release the red clip at the top and push the button. Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2000 Dodge Durango- Video

Today we are going to be installing wiring harness part number 118334 on a 2000 Dodge Durango. The attachment points for the wiring harness are going to be directly behind the taillight assemblies. So the first thing that we want to do is remove the taillights from both sides of the vehicle. To do so, we just have two Philip head screws on the end board side of each side. Remove those, pull our taillight assembly away and we will be able to see our connectors. OK, will the taillight assembly pulled away, you can see our connector here. What we want to do is go ahead and pull this clip back. And then press this button here and pull the two apart. Starting over here on the driver side, we are going to go ahead and plug our harness in line. We want to take the end with the yellow, red and brown wires in them and connect them here. And we just want to feed the 4-pole end and the other connector for the passenger end, with the green wire, we want to feed those down through the opening in between the bumper and the body here. And we are going to feed the converter box down through the opening as well. Let me go ahead and put our taillight assembly back on. 1:03 more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Dodge Durango- Video

Today on this 2006 Dodge Durango we are going to install part number 118390 from Tow Ready. This is our wiring harness this is the modulite. First thing we need to do is get inside the vehicle and we will take off the tail lights by taking out these two plastic rivets. There are little pins going towards the body of the vehicle so you have got to rock it back and forth for it to come lose. And to completely take off the tail light you undo this connection right here and push this red button up. All right we will go ahead and do the same thing on the passenger side. Next what we are going to do is take our wire harness and we are going to the 4-pole in down behind the bumper towards the ground for now. Our lead with the red, yellow, and brown wires we are going to hook up to the wiring harness that was going to the tail light. Do not forget to push your red lock back into place.
